In one of the most miraculous recoveries that Mamlin had ever
witnessed in over forty years of practicing medicine, Daniel
Ochieng walked out of Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital six weeks
after receiving his first dose of antiretroviral medicine. He was
the first Kenyan HIV patient to be treated with antiretrovirals in
the history of the Indiana-Moi partnership.
