Join the Kenya National Malaria Control Programme (NMCP), the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI), Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD), and AMPATH for a webinar on preventing malaria epidemics in the highlands of Kenya associated with the forecasted 2026 El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO) and Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) convergence. This rare weather event will bring increased rain and higher temperatures to sub-Saharan Africa through the end of 2026 and early 2027.
The webinar will review the climate forecasts for Kenya for the remainder of 2026 and early 2027, and the systems in place to predict, detect and respond to potentially serious malaria epidemics. This 2-hour live session features brief presentations from malariologists, meteorologists, entomologists, public health officials, and county health focal points, and will be followed by a moderated discussion and interactive Q&A.
