Vaccination Event Marks World Immunization Week

Children received life-saving vaccinations during the global observance of World Immunization Week in April. USAID AMPATH Uzima joined hands with communities at Namanjalala market, Kwanza sub-county, Trans Nzoia County, to underscore the critical importance of immunization in preventing vaccine-preventable diseases.

Embracing the theme "Humanly Possible: Vaccines Protect Against Diseases," USAID AMPATH Uzima and its partners reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring universal access to immunization as a fundamental human right.

The program remains steadfast in its collaboration with the Trans Nzoia County Department of Health and other stakeholders to guarantee equitable access to vaccines for every child. The program aims to mitigate the global burden of vaccine-preventable diseases through concerted efforts.

Through support for the County Department of Health, USAID AMPATH Uzima advocates for intensified resource allocation and dismantles barriers impeding immunization efforts. By fostering community engagement, enhancing healthcare infrastructure, and advocating for sustained investment in vaccines, the collective endeavor seeks to elevate immunization rates and ensure the holistic well-being of vulnerable populations.

In addition to advocacy and awareness efforts, the program provided essential health services to the community during the event including:

  • 8 antenatal care clients received services

  • 15 individuals accessed family planning services

  • 5 received HIV testing services

  • 4 children with moderate cases of malnutrition and 1 child with severe acute malnutrition received nutrition support

  • Other children received essential supplementation such as Vitamin A
