Why Research Translation?

Many global health challenges persist not because solutions are unknown, but because they are not adopted. Research translation helps close this gap by:

  • Engaging policymakers and communities early in the research process

  • Packaging and sharing findings in accessible, actionable formats

  • Building bridges between researchers, practitioners, and decision-makers

  • Ensuring evidence informs local and national health policies

AMPATH Research Translation & Health Policy Core

AMPATH is launching a Research Translation & Health Policy Core in Kenya to advance this mission within its longstanding academic partnership with Moi University and Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital. The Core is designed to:

  • Support research teams in engaging stakeholders, co-developing policy briefs, and crafting dissemination strategies

  • Offer training and mentoring on research translation strategies and science communication

  • Connect researchers with government and civil society partners to strengthen uptake and implementation

  • Develop tailored products and tools to align with policy windows and practitioner needs

The Core’s services include individual project advising, capacity-building workshops, making connections between researchers and policy actors, and translating research into practice.
