Professor Paul Ayuo
Dean of the Moi University School of Medicine
One of the reasons
Professor Ayuo chose to become a doctor was an experience he had as
a young boy in Kenya. He traveled with his uncle who needed an
injection and waited in line with him all day. It was then he began
to realize that "something needed to be done." After graduating
from medical school at the University of Nairobi, he worked in many
places throughout Kenya, joining the faculty at Moi University in
1991. He also completed a one year fellowship in Indianapolis at
Regenstrief Institute in 1996. In 2009, he was named Dean of the
Moi University School of Medicine, which he says "has the biggest
outreach program of all the Kenyan universities." Professor Ayuo
and his wife, Alice, have one son and two adopted sons. He enjoys
watching soccer and spends his vacations visiting his mother in his
home village.
