OUR STORY

Our partners

WE'RE FAR MORE IMPACTFUL TOGETHER.

AMPATH is a perfect example of what happens when people come together with a shared mission. Multiple North American academic institutions join together to make up the AMPATH Consortium, which in turn partners with the Moi University and Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in western Kenya. Together, we exchange knowledge, share resources, train medical professionals, and expand our reach beyond patients to whole communities.

MOI UNIVERSITY

Moi University in Eldoret was established in 1984 as Kenya's second public university. Moi's College of Health Sciences includes robust Schools of Medicine, Nursing, Public Health and Dentistry. Students in the College of Health Sciences receive training in curative and preventative health, both through hospital-based medicine and in community-oriented approaches. Through partnership in AMPATH, Moi University students and residents work alongside their North American counterparts, both in Kenya and in North America.

AMPATH CONSORTIUM

The AMPATH Consortium is a network of academic health centers that aims to foster long-term, equitable and cross-cultural partnerships with host health centers and universities that serve populations with significant unmet needs. Each institution brings their own perspective and provides its own opportunities for medical trainee exchange programs and hands-on education, in the U.S., Canada and across the globe.

Indiana University leads the AMPATH Consortium.

KENYAN MINISTRY OF HEALTH

All of our resources go toward supporting the Kenyan Ministry of Health in their mission of improving health systems across 10 counties in Kenya. In our every deliberation, we partner to help Kenyans achieve health care, economic empowerment, education, and more.

Plus, we’ve joined forces with the National Hospital Insurance Fund to offer an affordable health insurance package to all Kenyans, particularly farmers, small business owners, etc.
