Remembering Professor Mabel Nangami
We mourn the loss of Professor Mabel Nangami, past Dean of the Moi University School of Public Health, distinguished colleague and an enduring pillar within the AMPATH Kenya community. Her passing is a profound loss to all who had the privilege of working alongside her and benefiting from her wisdom, dedication and vision.
Professor Nangami devoted her career to advancing public health, education and service. She approached her work with clarity of purpose and a deep sense of responsibility. Her leadership helped shape programs, strengthen partnerships, and guide countless learners and professionals toward meaningful impact.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, she was deeply respected for her kindness, thoughtfulness and steady presence. She had a remarkable ability to uplift others, offering guidance and encouragement with sincerity and grace. Her influence will continue to be felt through the many individuals she mentored and the systems she helped build.
As we reflect on her life, we honor not only what she achieved, but how she lived—with integrity, compassion and commitment to others.
We extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends and colleagues. Professor Nangami’s legacy will remain woven into the fabric of AMPATH Kenya, and her memory will continue to inspire us all.
Services
The late Prof. Mabel Nangami Nyarango will be laid to rest on Thursday, 14th May, 2026 at her home near Ogembo Town, Kisii County.
A memorial service will be held in Eldoret on Tuesday, 12th May, at PCEA Eldoret (Ayub Kinyua Parish).
Fellowship and prayers are being held daily from 5.30pm at her Eldoret residence.
