AMPATH Uzima through the support of the U.S. Department of State has concluded the release and the transfer of health and digital assets to all four counties it supports.

Elgeyo Marakwet County has received health assets valued at KES 14.1 million ($110K USD) from AMPATH Uzima, with support from the United States Government, in a ceremony held at the County Government of Elgeyo Marakwet Headquarters.

Through the support of the United States Government, AMPATH Uzima officially transferred health assets valued at KES 16,386,986 ($126K USD) to the West Pokot County Government.

Amy Justice, MD, PhD, and Jepchirchir “Chiri” Kiplagat, PhD, served on the Lancet HIV Commission on Ageing and HIV, an international effort bringing together researchers, clinicians and community representatives to examine how HIV care must evolve as the population of people living with HIV grows older. 

In a celebration of partnership, progress and a shared vision for stronger healthcare, AMPATH Uzima has officially commenced the transfer of healthcare assets to county governments. 

Busia County, with support from Dumisha Afya, launched the new injectable pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) Lenacapavir and Cabotegravir (CAB-LA) in April. The introduction provides residents with an alternative to daily oral PrEP, offering longer-lasting protection against HIV.

Over the past year, as global health funding tightened and uncertainty multiplied, AMPATH Kenya relied on nearly four decades of partnership, innovation and an unyielding commitment to patients to continue forward momentum.

Dumisha Afya, with support from the United States Government, officially provided Busia and Bungoma Counties with modern medical equipment and supplies.
